the new replies thing was based on session cookies and top badge wasnt well synced to how the thread badge worked. it meant that it was desynced if you replied on different machines. and desynced with respect to each other. i changed it to use a db... claude can ah be a spazz sometimes. it might be behind compared to what it was but should work better now going forwards.
