lol, it really is. it's a shame because some anime has a good initial concept, but the execution is so dogshit. i really want to like "smoking behind the supermarket with you" but it's hard to get through an episode, even though it's like barely 20 minutes. i just hate all the gay anime mannerisms and the subtitles sound so unnatural and cringe, but the overall concept is very unique and charming.

That anime sounds like a decent concept at least. I tried watching JJK and it was so boring and generic, I looked at clips of solo leveling and it just looks like a boring power fantasy for nerds who don't do anything, I"m a nerd who doesn't do anything, give me something challenging or interesting, I might be wrong cause I've never watched it but it sounds bland. My algorithms sometimes show me random anime from the pre-2000s and it's all really well drawn and really high concept, especially a ton of sci fi stuff, back then they weren't trying to make money off a worldwide audience of midwits, the midwits weren't gonna watch it anyway so they could just make cool thought provoking stuff.
I did watch the first two seasons of made in abyss and I liked the first season and parts of the second season but I kind got off put with the "shock" factor and felt like the author might be an actual pedophile, but mainly just losing interest
