So many great works in the past happened because societies at the time valued aesthetics or challenges. Like if you look at older buildings the ornamental detail is beautiful. Then look at modern ones and its just ugly as fuck. Our society has mostly decided it would rather not pay extra for that. So literally everything looks like shit.
