maybe we're enjoying a brief period prior to entire planet going dark and our existence being erased forever thanks to AI ^_^ i dont know what I believe because if you asked me about AI 5 years ago I'd have told you that its not capable. And now its writing works that rival some of the most complex systems ever designed.

my intuition tells me it's a nothing burger and it won't scale. AI is just an extremely knowledgeable wordcel but language is fundamentally insufficient for modeling reality. what humans have is something that language is built on top off that allows us to make quick decisions and zero-in on relevant information. AI will probably help solve a lot of math and science problems, but it won't be able to take over the world. a lot of useless jobs will get automated but we'll still have a managerial class that oversees AI.
