AI still doesnt help with the code monkey level work. Not to the degree that they want you to believe. it is just the evolution of a grammar checker. I think it works best when you use it as something to keep you on the correct path without wasting hours of time researching things.

You can get results just slopping away, but, those results wont be consistent. AI used improperly just creates another form of tech debt that you will have to pay eventually if the project goes on long enough.

this is because you care about being able to maintain the code yourself. thats reasonable on many levels. it means you get the software and can fix it. so you dont need to depend fully on a subscription. the sad part is most companies dont care any more. theres crazy shit going on internally at these places. i wonder if there will be a reversal where theyre just like: yeah having to pay a fee forever is retarded... or do the economics justify it vs an engineers salary, idk?

They will care eventually once the problems become apparent. I listen to bloomberg every day and they are already talking about how leadership at some companies feel like these AI companies are scamming them with their promises and are cutting back their AI spend.
