the economy is fundamentally based on coercing the underclass to do all the bullshit jobs that keep society afloat while the middle and upper class can have pretend jobs for status. if you give everyone 2.5k, all the mcdonalds fast food workers, doordashers, ubers, janitors, gardeners are going to not bother working because those are done purely for survival. maybe lawyers and doctors will continue with their careers, but someone needs to clean the gutters. that's why the west keeps importing immigrants, because there is no permanent underclass anymore, you need to constantly replace that base layer of society. if we invent robots that can do all the work for us, that would stop immigration and we could implement UBI without increasing inflation.
